Why some domain names cost more
How to assess a name and check purchase terms.
Registration price and purchase price
A registrar’s price list covers its service under stated terms. If a domain already has an owner, its sale price is agreed separately and is not the same as standard annual registration.
What to assess
Consider whether the name is memorable, suits your audience, has a suitable history and respects third-party rights. A headline price is not evidence of your domain’s value or a promise of profit.
Before agreeing to buy
Check who can transfer the domain, which restrictions apply and the ongoing renewal costs. Distinguish the domain’s price from the value of a website or business using that address.
